Soft Landing Camp
The best way to start your adventure
Regardless of which of our high school programs you apply for, you have the chance to start your big exchange high school adventure at one of our Soft Landing Camps. One takes place in Barcelona just the week before school starts. The other one is in Madrid, and it’s aimed for students taking part in our three-week Spanish Preparation Course.
For four days, you will get the opportunity to discover the best of these ever-popular cities as well as getting prepared for your new life in Spain. Together with other exchange students from both other parts of the world, you will get the best start to your exchange experience possible. Below you find an example schedule of how your first days in Spain may look:
Your days in Barcelona
You will have a chance to participate in this Camp right before school starts. It will take place the 3rd-7th of September 2019. At arrival, you will be picked up at the airport by our staff. Together we get to the hotel or hostel where you will be sharing a room together with other exchange students. Breakfast is included every day of the camp.
Day 1: Arrival and check-in. Information meeting followed by an excursion to the beach. Bring your swimwear!
Day 2: "Adapt to Spain" workshop in the morning. Hop On Hop Off sightseeing tour 1 where we, for instance, see Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, and Plaça Catalunya afterwards. Free time to do some shopping and extra sightseeing afterwards.
Day 3: Program rules and general advice meeting in the morning. Hop On Hop Off sightseeing tour 2 where we, for instance, see Arc de Triomf, Park Ciutadella, and Plaça Espanya afterwards. We also visit Camp Nou, the Barcelona Football Club stadium. Optional visits to Casa Batlló, the inside of Sagrada Familia or the beach afterwards.
Day 4: We spend a full day at the Port Aventura Theme Park.
Day 5: Departure time. Let the exchange adventure begin!
Your days in Madrid
If you are to take part in our three-week Spanish Preparation Course starting in mid-august, you ‘ll have the chance to attend our Soft Landing Camp in Madrid (14th-18th of August 2019). You and your future classmates will get a nice introduction to the beautiful capital, as well as to get a chance to get to know each other. Below you find an example schedule of how your first days in Madrid may look:
Day 1: Arrival and check-in. Information meeting followed by a walking tour of the city center. Visit to the Círculo de Bellas Artes, where we admire a 360 view of Madrid.
Day 2: "Adapt to Spain" workshop in the morning. Hop On Hop Off sightseeing tour afterwards followed by free time in Madrid. Possibility of taking the night tour of the bus again.
Day 3: Full day at the Aquopolis Water Park. Bring your swimwear!
Day 4: Program rules and general advice meeting in the morning. Visit to the famous Retiro Park where we hire rowing boats afterwards. Paella cooking show in the evening, where we learn how to make a typical Spanish paella.
Day 5: Check-out and transfer to the language course host families.
